Rebecca is soooo excited! Today is the first day of school and she is all packed and ready to go!
The first thing Rebecca is going to do when she gets to the one room school house is show her teacher her slate. She has been practicing her spelling and wants to show Miss Phillis how her handwriting has improved over the summer.
Rebecca got up real early this morning and picked her best dress of homespun.....oops.....she forgot to take off her grubby slip....oh well....
After she got dressed, Rebecca tied up her fabric covered story book and the speller that belonged to her great, great grandmother. It has been in their family for many, many years and Rebecca will take great care to keep it safe. All she could find was jute rope so she tied a good strong knot in it, wrapped it around her books and hung it over her shoulder.
As she is going out the door, Rebecca stops and looks in the ole, cracked piece of mirror. Her brown wool pony tails are nice and neat, her stitched face is cute and her individually stitched fingers are clean!
Rebecca is quite happy with herelf.....she sings a tune as she skips to school.....by the time she got there, through all the dust and rocks, her black painted boots are grubby and scuffed! But, at least they stayed laced and tied!
Rebecca is a Ragged Fence Original. She measures 38 inches tall. I enjoyed making Rebecca and promise she will be a wonderful addition to your primitive doll collection.
Rebecca, her slate and her books will come to you signed and dated. Her grubby tag reads 'Rebecca's School Days".
